TAMPA- University of South Florida women’s head soccer coach Denise
Schilte-Brown is proud to announce the signing of nine high school seniors
to binding national letters of intent to come play soccer at USF this
morning on 2009 National Signing Day.
“We are very excited to announce this year’s signing class,” said Schilte-Brown.
“Recruiting is so important and with this class I feel we have added players
that keep us going in the right direction in terms of where we want to be as
a soccer program.”
This class marks Schilte-Brown’s third recruiting class since being named
head coach in the winter of 2006. With most of the current roster hailing
from the soccer rich state of Florida, Schilte-Brown and her staff has
compiled a group of talented players hail from up and down the eastern
seaboard with players from, New York, North Carolina, New Jersey all the way
down to Florida where the Bulls pulled five players from the Sunshine State.
Schilte-Brown also used her roots from up North to land two heralded players
from Canada.
“I think we did an outstanding job in going out and finding the best
possible players out their, no matter where they were,” said Schilte-Brown.
“Not only do I feel this class is talented but it is filled with experienced
winners. Bringing in winners is a key building block for us as a program.”
Although much smaller in size than the class from a season ago, the class
filled players with outstanding pedigrees, on both the national and
international levels. The group includes players named to All-State, All
County teams along with numerous players that have won championships at the
highest levels of club soccer, multiple Olympic Developmental Players and
also includes a player that is ranked in the National Top 100 per
TopDrawerSoccer.com.
The nine newcomers will join a young but experienced Bulls team which saw a
total of ten true freshmen make starts in the 2008 season, which saw the
Bulls go 7-8-3 on the season.
