Trinity Catholic headed to Final Four

WINTER PARK — Trinity Catholic became the first girls soccer team from Marion County to ever advance to the Final Four with a 2-1 victory over Trinity Prep in Friday’s 3A regional final.

With 4:00 remaining and the game tied at 1-1, Heather Steer knocked in the go-ahead goal. From there, the Celtics defense took control, silencing Trinity Prep (16-6-1) the rest of the way.

Ashley Coley put the Celtics up 1-0 at intermission with a first-half goal. Tina Camargo, Asami Floyd and Katy Phillips also had standout performances for Trinity Catholic.

The Celtics (24-3-2) will face Jacksonville Bolles on Feb. 13 at the University of Tampa.
