Triglia's hat trick propels Bulldogs
from jacsonville.com
The Bolles girls soccer team was determined to have a more comfortable
margin of victory in Tuesday's Region 1-3A semifinal than it had the last
time it faced rival Episcopal.
The Bulldogs came away with a one-goal victory over Episcopal in the
district championship 12 days ago. Tuesday night, the reigning Class 3A
champions ousted their visiting nemesis 7-1.
"The big difference - and that's the game of soccer - is putting the ball
in the net," Bolles coach Matt Tracy said. "We weren't without the same
chances in the district final, but we just didn't put them in that time.
"Obviously, when you get a couple early, your confidence grows, and
everybody's play picked up. That was the difference."
Junior Caroline Triglia contributed her share to boosting her teammates'
confidence. She recorded a hat trick for the Bulldogs (23-3-1) in the first
43 minutes of play.
"I think it was huge to be ahead, up early. It changed the tempo,"
Triglia said.
Theresa Diederich scored the lone goal for the Eagles (15-7-2) with 1:08
to play.
The victory advanced the Bulldogs to the Region 1-3A championship. They
will play host to Pensacola Catholic on Friday.
