2009 NSCAA Preseason Division II National Poll

KANSAS CITY, Ks. (August 11, 2009) - After a record-setting 2008 campaign, the Rollins women's soccer team begins the 2009 season ranked No. 10 on the NSCAA Preseason Poll, it was announced Monday. The defending Sunshine State Conference Champions began their training camp earlier this week.

The Tars completed 2008 with a final ranking of eleventh after losing their only contest of the season to West Florida in the third round of NCAA tournament action. Finishing with the best record in program history (15-1-4), Rollins looks to build upon last season's success as they welcome back 9 starters and 14 letter winners.

The 2008 Sunshine State Conference Regular Season Champions took to the pitch Monday morning to kick-off preseason action, and will take on cross-town rival UCF in exhibition play Thursday evening on the Division I team's home turf. The Tars open regular season action on Saturday, August 29, when they travel to Savannah, Ga. to take on the Savannah College of Art and Design, and follow-up with their home opener against Carthage College on Tuesday, September 1 in a 5 p.m. double-header.

Ranked as high as seventh last season, the Tars look to take on two preseason Top 25 teams as they face No. 2 West Florida, and No. 24 Tampa with a home field advantage in both contests. Fans will be able to catch all of the action live on the Tars Sports Network at www.RollinsSports.com.
