Spartans Fall To Columbus State
COLUMBUS,
Ga. – In its second straight match against a national top-10
opponent, The University of Tampa (3-4-1) suffered a 3-0 loss to No. 6
Columbus State University (6-0-1).
The game was scoreless until the Cougars struck in the 37th minute with
an unassisted goal from Kara Mundelein. CSU added another goal two minutes
later and recorded its third goal of the contest at the 73:30 mark.
The Spartans finished with five shots as freshman
Courtney Peffley
led UT with two. The lone shot on goal came from classmate
Katie LaPorta.
Saige Steinmetz
started in goal for Tampa, finishing with three saves while facing nine
shots.
Tampa travels to Savannah, Ga., as it will meet No. 19 Armstrong Atlantic
State University on Friday at 5 p.m.
