TALLAHASSEE, Fla.
- Florida State's
Jessica Price was honored for her outstanding play this past weekend
against No. 10 Penn State and Washington State as she was named the Atlantic
Coast Conference Co-Player of the Week. She also earned national recognition
claiming Team of the Week accolades from Soccer America and
TopDrawerSoccer.com.
For the second week in a row, Price turned up the offensive intensity for
the Seminoles posting six points on two goals and two assists in leading FSU
to a pair of victories at home. All 15 of her points on the year have come
in the last two weeks.
Price assisted on the first goal of the evening in a 2-1 victory over
Penn State. She followed two days later by tying a career-high in points (5)
with two goals and an assist against Washington State. The Libertyville,
Ill., native scored the game's first goal in the 13th minute and the fourth
FSU goal in the 70th minute. She assisted on
Tiffany McCarty's second goal of the afternoon against the Cougars just
minutes after the start of the second half to give FSU a 3-0 lead. Price
finished the week with six shots including five shots on goal. She led all
Seminole players in minutes played with 146.
Through the first three weeks of the season, Price leads the ACC in
points (15), assists (5) and assists per game (1.00) and ranks in the top
five in points per game, goals and goals per game. Following her five point
performance against Washington State, Price surpassed her career total in
points of 12 established last year as a freshman.
Price and the Seminoles return to action this Thursday, September 10 as
they travel south to face UCF at 7:00 p.m., before returning home to face
UAB on Sunday, September 13 at 6:00 p.m. inside the Seminole Soccer Complex.
NOTE: With wins over Penn State and Washington State this past
weekend, Florida State moved to No. 4 in the Soccer America top 25 poll. The
Seminoles are one of 14 teams in the nation in 2009 with a record of 5-0-0
or better
