Sept. 22, 2009
TALLAHASSEE,
Fla. - Florida State's
Toni Pressley was honored for her game-winning heroics this past weekend
against No. 7 Florida as she was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player
of the Week. She also earned national recognition claiming Team of the Week
accolades from Soccer America and was noted as a Primetime Performer from
College Soccer 360.com.
Pressley found a great time to record her first goal of the season as the
sophomore defender scored the golden goal in leading FSU to a 1-0 overtime
victory against intra-state rival Florida in Gainesville, this past Friday.
Pressley put away a loose ball from about eight yards out following a
Seminole throw-in during the first overtime period.
The Melbourne, Fla., native led the Seminoles with three shots against
the Gators as all three shots were fired on goal. She also played a key role
in FSU's defensive effort that limited UF to just two shots on goal in over
92 minutes of action.
This is the first time that Pressley has been recognized by the
conference office for her on-field performance. She joins fellow teammate
Jessica Price (September 8) as recipients of ACC Player of the Week
honors in 2009.
Pressley and the Seminoles return to action this Thursday, September 22
as they open league play against No. 9 Maryland at the Seminole Soccer
Complex at 7:00 p.m.
