Pirates defeat Saints, 5-0

Ga. − Kristina Pascutti scored two goals and Kristin Burton added a goal and
an assist as Armstrong Atlantic State University defeated Flagler College
5-0 in a Peach Belt Conference women’s soccer match Thursday afternoon at
AT&T Park.
AASU won its second match in a row and takes over first place in the
conference with an 8-2-0 record in its last league match. The Pirates are
12-3-3 overall. Flagler, just 24 hours after blanking Georgia Southwestern
on the road, fell to 8-7-1 overall and 4-4-1 in the conference.
Erin O’Rourke put the Pirates on the board in the 30th minute when she cut
off a clearing attempt by a Flagler player at the top of the box and booted
the ball into the back of the net.
The score would remain the same going into the half and Flagler held a 5-3
lead in shots.
In the second half, Kristin Burton sent in a cross which found Erin Holt at
the far post in the 50th minute. In the 59th minute, Pascutti was fouled by
a Flagler player to set up a penalty kick by Burton, which she converted to
give the Pirates a 3-0 lead.
Pascutti tacked on consecutive goals in the 60th and 63rd minute to finish
the scoring.
Tracey Mitchell tallied three saves before giving way to Meghan Mayville who
finished the final 19 minutes of play.
Christie Reuther (Sarasota, Fla./Riverview HS) recorded one save
for the Saints.
Loren Cate (Apopka, Fla./Apopka HS) tallied three shots with two
on goal.
Shots were tied with each team recording eight while AASU held an 8-3
advantage in corner kicks.
Flagler concludes its regular season against seventh-ranked Columbus State
University on Sunday (Nov. 1) at 1 p.m. at Saints Field. If Columbus State
wins it takes home the regular season crown. If Columbus State loses or
ties, it finishes second in the conference.
