Middle Tennessee State University scored two minutes into the first overtime period to break a scoreless tie to win Sunday's Sun Belt Conference women's soccer match 1-0 over the Florida Atlantic University.

The Blue Raiders and Owls have now played two straight overtime matches that include a FAU victory in the opening round of last year's Sun Belt Conference Championships.

Senior forward Ashley Mannarino paced the offensive attack for the Owls with six shots. As a team FAU recorded nine shots on the afternoon. Anhnhi Tran, Jamie Greany and Laura Hyvonen each had one shot in the loss.

Vanessa Mueggler won the game for Middle Tennessee State in the 92nd minute on a shot from the top of attacking box. The goal was her fifth on the season and was set up by a pass from Jen Threlkeld.

Ashley Lantes recorded eight saves in net for the Owls. FAU had a 10-6 edge in corner kicks, but were outshot in the match by a 19-9 margin.

FAU drops to 2-7-2 on the season and 0-2 in league action while the Blue Raiders continue the school's best start to a season with eight wins in 10 matches. The Owls return home for a four-match home stand Friday night against the University of North Texas, starting at 7 p.m.
