Shareen Sutherland
Edgewater's
Shareen Sutherland, at 5 feet 10, uses her sheer size to muscle and play
above opponents inside the box. Sutherland garnered 39 goals and 10 assists
this season for an inexperienced Edgewater team.
Highlights
Edgewater lost a lot of talented seniors from the previous season, and
Sutherland was left with a lot of inexperience around her. It didn't stop
her from totaling 39 goals and 20 assists for the Eagles (15-6-3), who
struggled at times but played right with the best teams. "She basically had
to be an assistant coach with me," Edgewater Coach Jason Mann said.
In her own words
"I just go out in every game and play hard. I play my best, no matter who
we're playing. I'm constantly trying my best, and I think other coaches have
been able to see that."

What the future holds
With her high school career over, Sutherland is itching to get to work at
Wake Forest, where she will play next season. "I wish the school year would
end right now," she said.
