Mocs slither past Saints

LAKELAND,
Fla. − Florida Southern College scored three goals in the first 3:24 en
route to a 5-0 win over Flagler College in a non-conference women’s soccer
game Wednesday afternoon at Barnett Field.
Florida Southern raised its record to 6-5-0 while Flagler had its
two-match win streak snapped and fell to 5-3-1.
Four different Mocs scored, the other goal came on an own goal, and Alex
Hoover tallied a pair of assists.
Princess Haley got Florida Southern on the board just 40 seconds into the
match. Lexie Bottomley and Morgan Simmons assisted on the goal. Just 28
seconds later, Renee Heacock headed in Hoover’s corner kick. The last in
the trio was Ashlie Haas’ goal off another Hoover corner kick.
In the 37th minute, the Mocs scored an own goal when a Saint defender
tried to break up a crossing past but knocked the ball into the goal.
Kerri-Ann Brown added a goal in the 61st minute off a pass from Haley.
Martina Tangen tallied three saves for Florida Southern.
Christie Reuther (Sarasota, Fla./Riverview HS) recorded 10 saves
for Flagler.
FSC out-shot Flagler 18-5 and held an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Flagler returns to Peach Belt Conference play on Saturday (Oct. 3) at USC
