Lady Hurricanes improve to 5-0, still allow only one
goal
At 5-0, the
Coral Shores girls soccer Hurricanes make no bones about it -- they're
looking ahead.
Contrary to the sports maxim of "playing one game at a time," the
unbeaten Lady Canes have their eyes trained three weeks ahead, to a Dec. 9
clash with forever nemesis Gulliver Prep.
Coral Shores steamrolled District 16-3A opponent Carrollton, 8-0, Friday
in a home game ended at halftime by the mercy rule.
Still, head coach Arthur Paterson vocally challenged his squad to tighten
up. Gulliver is coming, he said.
"That's why I yell," he said after the Carrollton walkover. "We can't be
surprised when we play a team like Gulliver that can do a lot of the things
we do."
Last season, Coral Shores had four losses in 20 matches -- three of them
to Gulliver, against one win.
With a veteran Cane team that is older and even more experienced,
Paterson said, "Now we're the measuring stick. [Opponents] are preparing and
