Lady Argos Entrenched at No 2

KANSAS CITY, Ks. — For the 15th consecutive week of voting the University of West Florida women’s soccer team secured their spot as the No. 2 team in the nation as announce by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The women improved to a perfect 9-0-0 on the season with three wins last week.

In a mid-week match against former Gulf South Conference rival Montevallo, the Argos would hand Falcons a 4-0 shutout loss. It would be the largest margin of victory over the Falcons in more than a decade. Then over the weekend the Lady Argos traveled down to south Florida for a pair of in-region games against Barry University and Nova Southeastern. On Friday night the women would shutout the Bucs 2-0 before handling the Sharks 3-1 on Sunday afternoon. Team leading scorer Shakira Duncan added goals in all three games, giving her at least one goal in each of the Argos first nine games.

This Argos will open up conference play this weekend at home in matches against Ouachita Baptist on Friday evening and Harding on Sunday afternoon. Kickoff is scheduled for 5pm CT on Friday and 12:30pm CT on Sunday at the UWF Soccer Complex.
