Klotz, Eagle Named to BIG EAST Honor Roll
TAMPA
- Sophomore Chelsea Klotz and true freshman Boo Eagle of the University of
South Florida women's soccer have been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor
Roll for the their efforts this past weekend in the Bulls 2-0 weekend which
propelled USF into a first place tie with Marquette.
Eagle did not take a seat in the Bulls two matches over the weekend playing
186 minutes. From her center back position, Eagle anchored a backline that
gave up just one goal on the weekend.
While Eagle held down the back line, Klotz shined on the offensive end in
the Bulls' thrilling 2-1 overtime win against Cincinnati. Klotz, who is now
tied with fellow sophomore Noelle Pineiro as the Bulls leading scorer, took
a feed from Rehana Murani and sent home the game winner in the 94th minute
of the match. The goal is the seventh of the season and her fourth game
winner of the season. Klotz broke the ice for both teams when she gave the
Bulls a 1-0 lead in the 63rd minute off an assist from Gina Pacheco.
This week marks the third straight week that USF has had a player(s) named
to the BIG EAST Weekly honor roll and the fourth time overall.
USF hits the road for the final time this regular season in hopes of
securing a spot in the BIG EAST Championship, as well as a first round by
and second round home match. They start off the weekend at nationally ranked
St. John's on Oct. 23 at 4 p.m. and at Syracuse on Oct. 25 at noon. The
Bulls sit one point ahead of St. John's in the American Division standings.
