Hurricanes blow Past Wolves

The Bishop McLaughlin Hurricanes and the St. Francis Wolves squared off in their second contest of the year today in Gainsville. First half play was a aggressive and spirited defensive showcase. The Hurricanes defense restricted the Wolves to only a few ventures across midfield. Conversely the Wolves strength proved to be in their keeper Wiley who made a number of sparkling saves. The first half scoring was limited to one goal which occurred when Valdispino played a ball into the box that was pounced on by Maramara who sizzled a shot high and to the right of Wiley. The half ended 1-0, Hurricanes.

The battle intensified in the second half with a number of hard challenges and several fouls. The intensity of the game resulted in the Hurricanes' J. Bexley and Muscolina each receiving a booking by the referee. A foul by the Wolves just outside their eighteen yard line garnered the Hurricanes a direct free kick. Valdispino launched a ball that beat Wiley high and to the left. Addessi scored after a corner kick by the Hurricanes' Valdispino pinballed off of several players in the box and bounced out to the top of the 18 yard semi-circle. Addesssi cranked it into the upper right corner of the net. The final score of the game came when Valdispino played an aerial lob pass that confused Wiley. Wiley came aggressively for the ball but got caught in no man's land and C. Bexley bodied it smartly to the side for an easy put in. The final socre was 4-0, Hurricances.
