Sunrise Fire U17 girls completed their 2009/2010 season
last weekend with a victory at the PDA Showcase in New Jersey. As the only
Florida soccer team to get accepted into this top ranked event, Sunrise won
all three matches and captured the title of 2010 PDA Champions this past
Memorial Day Weekend. With victories over Ohio Premier, So Cal Blues &
Jersey United Strikers, Sunrise secured its tournament victory with 27 total
points, scoring 8 goals and allowing ZERO! With over 300 college coaches in
attendance our girls put on a very nice showing and Coach Gus could not have
been more proud of his girls!
While this team stumbled at the State Cup quarter finals,
they had a season second to none.
Earning a spot in the R3PL this season, they showed they
could play with the best teams in the country; another championship at CASL
last November introduced this team up to many National College coaches.
Disney Showcase 3rd place finish and a Jefferson Cup Semi Final
finish has propelled each of these players onto the college soccer map.
Each and every player on this team has been talking to at least 3-4
different college coaches about their future playing plans. While each girl
is taking their time to make sure each fit is best for them, expect every
girl on this Sunrise roster to verbally commit in the near future!
