Free kick: Buchholz is making its 10th consecutive
regional-playoff appearance. The Bobcats have advanced to the regional
playoffs 23 times, and are tied with fellow 6A school, Miami Springs for
the second most overall playoff appearances according to FHSAA. Class 5A’s
Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas is first with 25 trips to the regional
playoffs. Flagler Palm Coast is making its seventh consecutive
regional-playoff appearance. This is a rematch of last year’s regional
quarterfinal when the Bulldogs posted a 3-2 overtime-victory at Buchholz.
Region 1-5A
Who: Orange Park Fleming Island (16-5-3) at Eastside (20-5-2),
Citizens Field
What’s next: Eastside would host Ocala Forest or Jacksonville
Bartram Trail (23-0-3) in Tuesday’s regional semifinals. Fleming Island
would host Forest or travel to Bartram Trail.
Free kick: Eastside won the District 4-5A championship, which is
its first district crown since 2002. The Rams are making their 14th
regional-playoff appearance in the last 16 years. The Rams are looking for
their first tournament win since 2002. This is Fleming Island’s fourth
consecutive trip to the regionals. These two schools met in the 2006
regional quarterfinals, won by the Golden Eagles, who reached the Class 5A
state semifinals that year.
Region 1-4A
Who: Jacksonville Bishop Kenny (6-6-3) at Santa Fe (18-7-2)
What’s next: Santa Fe would host Green Cove Springs Clay
(15-4-1) or travel to Jacksonville Stanton for Tuesday’s regional
semifinals. Bishop Kenny would travel to either school.
Free kick: Santa Fe won the District 3-4A title, the second
district championship in school history. The Raiders are in the regional
playoffs for the fourth time in the last six seasons and are in search of
their first tournament victory. Bishop Kenny is in the regional playoffs
for the third straight season and for the 12th time in the last 14 years.
This is a rematch of last year’s regional quarterfinal won by and hosted
by the Crusaders 3-1.
Region 1-3A
Who: Taylor County (16-6-0) at Pensacola Catholic (11-6-0)
What’s next: Taylor County would travel to Santa Rosa Beach
South Walton (8-5-2) or Tallahassee Florida High (17-5-2) for Tuesday’s
semifinals. Pensacola Catholic would host South Walton or travel to
Florida High.
Free kick: Taylor County is making its fourth straight
regional-playoff appearance and its fifth in the last six years. Pensacola
Catholic is making its eighth straight trip to the regional playoffs. This
is the third straight and sixth overall regional meeting between the
teams. Pensacola Catholic has won the previous five meetings, including a
2-1 regional-semifinal win over Taylor County a year ago.
Who: Jacksonville Episcopal (13-6-2) at P.K. Yonge (14-6-2)
What’s next: P.K. Yonge would host Fort White (12-4-3) or travel
to Jacksonville Bolles (21-3-1) for Tuesday’s regional semifinals.
Episcopal would travel to either school.
Free kick: P.K. Yonge is in the regional playoffs for the fourth
consecutive season, each time as a district champion, and for the sixth
time in the last seven years. Episcopal is making its sixth consecutive
trip to the regional playoffs. For the fourth straight year, the Blue Wave
and the Eagles tangle in the opening round of the playoffs. Episcopal has
won the three previous meetings by a combined score of 19-2.
Who: Fort White (12-4-3) at Jacksonville Bolles (21-3-1)
What’s next: Fort White would host Jacksonville Episcopal
(13-6-2) or travel to P.K. Yonge (14-6-2) for Tuesday’s regional
semifinals. Bolles would host either school.
Free kick: Fort White is in the regional playoffs for the third
consecutive season, while Bolles is making its 19th straight
regional-playoff appearance. According to FHSAA records, that string of
regional playoff appearances is the second longest streak behind St.
Thomas Aquinas’ mark of 25. The Bulldogs are the defending Class 3A state
champions and have been to the state semifinals 13 times. This is the
third straight season that Bolles has hosted Fort White in an opener. The
Bulldogs have won the previous two meetings by a combined scored of 19-0.
Region 2-3A
Who: Umatilla (11-9-2) at Keystone Heights (12-5-0)
What’s next: Keystone Heights would host Pierson Taylor (14-4-0)
or travel to Ocala Trinity Catholic (20-3-2). Umatilla would travel to
either school.
Free kick: Keystone Heights won the District 5-3A title for its
second straight district championship. The Indians are in the regional
playoffs for the ninth time in the last 10 years. Umatilla is in the
regional playoffs for just the third time and for the first time since
2003. This is the first regional-playoff meeting between the two schools.
Region 1-2A
Who: Jacksonville Providence (8-9-5) at St. Francis (19-3-3)
What’s next: St. Francis would host either St. Augustine St.
Joseph (9-4-1) or Orange Park St. Johns Country Day (18-2-2) in Tuesday’s
regional semifinals. Providence would host St. Joseph or travel to St.
Johns Country Day.
Free kick: St. Francis won the District 4-2A title, its first
district championship in the brief history of the school. The Wolves are
in the regional tournament for the second straight season and are looking
for their first tournament victory. Providence is making its fifth
consecutive trip to the regional tournament.
