TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Chicago Red Stars of the WPS
invited former FSU Seminole women's soccer standout
Sarah Wagenfuhr to their preseason camp beginning March 1. She
joins six other invitees hoping for a spot on the team's inaugural
roster.
Wagenfuhr enters the camp coming off a great senior season with
the Seminoles. The team captain received All-America honor as well
as earning a spot on the All-ACC First Team as she set
career-highs in points (16), goals (4) and assists (8). In
addition to her collegiate experience, Wagenfuhr also has gained
valuable experience in her days competing with the United States
Youth National teams. As a member of the U.S. U-20 team in 2006,
she competed at the FIFA U-20 World Championships in Russia.
The Red Stars camp includes the invitees as well as previously
drafted and contracted players. Training begins indoors in
Bridgeview, Ill., for approximately 10 days followed by outdoor
training in Florida. Rosters across the league will be cut to 18
players and four developmental players by March 24. The WPS will
begin its inaugural season on March 29.
