DURHAM, N.C. - Fifth-ranked Florida State (10-2-1, 3-1-1 ACC) wrapped up its weekend swing to the state of North Carolina with a 0-0 tie against Duke (4-5-4, 0-2-2 ACC) Sunday afternoon inside Koskinen Stadium. The Seminoles outshot the Blue Devils 18-9 en route to their first tie of the season.

With the tie, Florida State keeps pace with Virginia Tech and North Carolina who currently sit atop the ACC standings with 12 points a piece. The Seminoles are in sole possession of third place with 10 points.

Toni Pressley and Amanda DaCosta led the Seminoles with three shots each, while both Tiffany McCarty and Ella Stephan fired a pair of shots on goal.

FSU goalkeeper Erin McNulty played all 110 minutes between the posts to pick up her third shutout of the season. The redshirt sophomore finished the game with two saves.

Sunday's contest marked the seventh overtime game in series history, while four times the game has finished in a tie. FSU's overtime record against Duke moved to 2-1-4 all-time.

"I thought our effort was good today," said head coach Mark Krikorian. "He had a number of good scoring chances, but we just were not precise enough in the box. Duke came out and defended very well. Opposing teams are doing a nice job of respecting our pace of play."

Both teams played to a scoreless first half as the Seminoles outshot the Blue Devils 4-3. FSU also maintained the advantage in corner kicks at 4-0.

Duke supplied the offensive tempo early recording three shots in the first 23 minutes forcing the Seminoles into a couple saves including a team save in the 22nd minute off a shot from Chelsea Canepa.

The Seminoles' first shot wasn't recorded until the 27th minute when freshman Ines Jaurena forced the Blue Devils into a team save to keep the game knotted at zero. DaCosta, Pressley and Breezy Hupp supplied the other shots in the first half for the Garnet and Gold.

FSU outshot Duke 12-5 in the second half but neither team could find the back of the net forcing overtime.

The Seminoles fired four shots in the first 12 minutes and four seconds of the second half including shots on goal from Pressley and Becky Edwards.

Stephan put a shot on frame off a header following a Seminole corner in the 65th minute but Duke keeper Tara Campbell was there for the save. Less than three minutes later, McCarty fired a shot on a goal that was also saved by Campbell.

The Seminoles would get two more looks on goal late in the game but Campbell denied both shots from Stephan and DaCosta.

Duke took control of the offensive play in the final 10 minutes of regulation outshooting FSU 4-0. The Seminole defense was up for the challenge as three of the four shots were blocked.

In the overtime session, FSU held a 2-1 shot advantage while both teams recorded one shot a piece in the first 10 minutes.

Florida State will wrap up its three-game road swing on Thursday, October 15 in Clemson as the Seminoles will face the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Live stats will be available for the match via gametracker.
