Nicole DiPerna, Melbourne
The numbers: A 5-foot-5 junior midfielder, DiPerna was a
consistent offensive force for the state-champion Bulldogs. She finished
second on the team in scoring with 26 goals and 18 assists, producing
several multi-goal games in the postseason.
Best moment this season: Winning state.

Christina Edwards, Rockledge
The numbers: A senior midfielder, Edwards was the centerpiece
of the Raiders' team for several seasons. A repeat member of the All-Space
Coast first team, she scored 14 goals and added 13 assists in 22 games.
She helped Rockledge compile a 14-9-0 record in 2008-09.

Kristin Grubka, Melbourne
The numbers: A 5-foot-9 sophomore, Grubka proved to be one of
the most versatile players in Brevard County. Playing forward, she led the
unbeaten, state-champion Bulldogs in scoring with 32 goals and 15 assists.
Then in two state-tournament games, she played goalkeeper, permitting two
goals and earning a state-final shutout against Douglas.
Best moment this season: Winning state.
Favorite movie: The "Die Hard" series.

One thing few people know about you: I'm a pretty awesome
dancer.

vs. Oviedo.

Michelle Grubka, Melbourne
The numbers: A senior and older sister of Kristin Grubka,
Michelle anchored a defense that permitted just eight goals all season,
including just three in seven postseason games. The multi-season starter
also added two goals and nine assists.
Best moment this season: Winning state
Favorite book: The "Twilight" series.
Favorite movie: "Beauty and the Beast"

Michael Phelps
One thing you must do before you compete: Put in a fresh piece
of gum.
One thing few people know about you: I want to return to
Mel-High to teach math and coach soccer.
Jill Holdsworth, Satellite
The numbers: A sophomore forward/midfielder, Holdsworth
blossomed as the season progressed and helped the Scorpions reach the
Class 5A state tournament. She finished the season second on her team in
scoring with 16 goals and 23 assists.
Best moment this season: Beating St. Thomas.
Favorite book: "U2" by U2.
Favorite movie: "The Fast and the Furious"

Lauren Houston, Merritt Island
The numbers: A repeat member of the first-team All-Space Coast
squad, the senior goalkeeper compiled a 0.83 goals-against average in the
regular season, then posted road regional shutouts against Jensen Beach
and Viera. Houston was a three-year starter for the Mustangs.
Best moment this season: Winning vs. Viera in regionals.

Gibbons
Tishia Jewell, Satellite
The numbers: A speedy senior forward, Jewell is a three-time
first-team member of the All-Space Coast squad. The UCF-bound Jewell led
Brevard County with 43 goals and added 15 assists for the Scorpions, who
finished 21-5-1 and reached the Class 5A semifinals. Jewell had
game-winning goals in regional play against West Boca Raton and St.
Thomas Aquinas.
Best moment this season: Scoring with winning goal with
Kristen Steininger in double overtime against St. Thomas in the regional
final.

Holly Payne, Merritt Island
The numbers: A senior defender, Payne proved to be one of the
steadiest Mustangs as the squad reached the Class 4A regional finals.
Her coach, Scott Carswell, called Payne his "most indispensable player"
following the 19-5-1 season.
Best moment this season: Beating Viera on a golden goal.
Favorite book: "Twilight"
Favorite movie: "Superbad"
One thing few people know about you: I'm playing soccer at
Flagler next year.
One thing you would change about your sport: How the refs
call everything.
One thing hanging on your room's walls: Tons of pictures.
Rachel Price, Melbourne
The numbers: A 5-foot-7 forward, the often-dazzling freshman
was a force all season for the Bulldogs. Around breaks to play with
national teams, Price finished with 24 goals and seven assists for the
unbeaten Bulldogs. She also scored in each of Melbourne's
state-tournament games.
Best moment this season: No matter what, our team would pick
each other up and we always fought.
Favorite book: "The Heart of a Champion"
Favorite movie: "Stomp the Yard"
One person you would love to have a 10-minute conversation with:
Ronaldinho
One thing few people know about you: Instead of always
hanging with my friends, I'm outside almost every day working on my
skills to pursue my dream of playing pro.
One thing hanging on your room's walls: My most-memorable
soccer medals, including this year's high school state medal.
Katie Stengel, Viera
The numbers: A repeat first-team All-Space Coast member, the junior
forward led the Hawks with 41 goals and 10 assists, firing 145 shots in
23 games. Her efforts helped Viera (19-5) win its first district title
and reach the Class 4A regional semifinals. Stengel has given Wake
Forest a verbal commitment.
Best moment this season: Playing against Jackie (her sister) at
Edgewood. I had to work extra hard to try to beat her.

One thing few people know about you: If I could, I would live at
Viera Regional Park so I wouldn't lose a second that I could be
training."

Jenci Villaverde, Bayside
The numbers: A diminutive junior forward, the fleet
Villaverde led the Bears with 39 goals and six assists. She scored a
goal in all but one of the games she played for Bayside, which finished
12-7-2 and reached Class 5A regional play for the second straight
season.
Best moment this season: Scoring two goals against Mel-High.
Favorite movie: "Cars"

One thing you must do before you compete: Tape my socks so my
shin guards don't fall out.
One thing few people know about you: I actually started out
playing baseball before soccer.
One thing hanging on your room's walls: All my Olympic
Development Program tag numbers from tryouts.
Rosanna Lord, Melbourne, Coach
The numbers: The sixth-year leader of the Bulldogs guided her
squad to the school's second state title. Melbourne's Class 6A crown
capped a season in which the Bulldogs finished 23-0-1 (the state's lone
unbeaten girls champion) and outscored its foes 143-8.
Best moment this season: Besides winning state, winning the
state semifinal match against Oviedo after being down 1-0. The 3-2 win
placed us one step further than we had ever been since I have been
coaching at Melbourne High.
Favorite book: "Goodnight Moon" has to be my favorite book
right now since our daughter seems to enjoy the book at bedtime.
Favorite movie: "Finding Nemo"
One thing few people know about you: I'm allergic to
shellfish.
One thing you would change about your sport: Games should not
end in a tie. Teams should continue playing until a goal is scored.
One thing hanging on your room's walls: The MHS soccer memory
tree is hanging on my classroom wall.
