ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Senior forward Tiffany Urquhart (Ormond Beach, Fla./ Seabreeze HS) scored a pair of goals  and assisted on another Sunday morning to help lead Flagler to a 3-0 season-opening win over New York Institute of Technology. The Saints and Bears went scoreless after the first half of play, but Flagler would take control in the second half.

In the 55th-minute, Urquhart assisted freshman forward Marisa Strawn (Lake Mary, Fla./ Lake Mary HS) to give the Saints a 1-0 lead. Urquhart dished the ball to Strawn in the box for an easy tap-in.

Flagler would take a 2-0 lead in the 61st-minute off of a penalty kick. Urquhart was hit hard in the penalty box by a Bears' defender and a penalty kick was rewarded by the official.  Urquhart shot the ball past goalkeeper Kathryn Miller to further the Saints' lead.

Flagler's final goal came in the 68th-minute when Loren Cate (Apopka, Fla./ Apopka HS) sent a corner kick that was headed in by Urquhart to push Flagler's lead to 3-0.

Overall, the Saints took 19 shots compared to the Bears' 13. 

Goalkeeper Kaitlyn Goffe (St. Petersburg, Fla./ St. Pete Coll. HS) had three saves including a diving save in the first half. 

The Saints' season-opening win is their first in two years. Flagler's next match is at Lenoir-Rhyne Sept. 4 at 8 p.m.
