N.C. − Freshman forward
Lindsay Zullo (Hudson, Fla./Hudson HS) scored her first
collegiate goal and that was all Flagler College would need in a 2-0
victory over the University of North Carolina Pembroke in Peach Belt
Conference women’s soccer match Saturday afternoon at the Varsity Grounds.
Flagler raised its record to 4-2-1 overall and a 1-0-1 mark in the
conference. UNCP had its two-match win streak snapped and fell to 5-2-0
overall and 0-2-0 in the league.
Zullo scored her goal in the 30th minute when she stole the ball from a
UNCP player and found the back of the net just eight yards away.
Fellow freshman
Loren Cate (Apopka, Fla./Apopka HS) added an insurance goal with
just 45 seconds left in the match.
Christie Reuther (Sarasota, Fla./Riverview HS) recorded her
second shutout of the season as she collected three saves.
Rea Segoviano tallied one saves for the Braves.
Flagler out-shot UNCP 18-4, but the Braves held an 8-3 advantage in corner
kicks.
Flagler plays host to Clayton State University on Saturday (Sept. 26) at 5
p.m. at the Flagler Field Complex.
