2009 CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America Team in PDF Format
TALLAHASSEE,
Fla. - CoSIDA, in conjunction with ESPN the Magazine, announced the
Academic All-America Women's Soccer Team on Tuesday, November 17. Florida
State senior captain
Becky Edwards was honored on this year's team earning third team
accolades.
With the honor, Edwards becomes the first Seminole soccer player to be
recognized as an Academic All-American at the national level. The
Downingtown, Pa., native has been honored three times as an Academic
All-District honoree by CoSIDA and ESPN the Magazine, earning first team
distinction in 2007 and 2009, while being named to the second team in 2008.
Edwards has started every game for FSU in 2009 and is in the midst of a
career season in her final year with the Seminoles. The senior
midfielder/defender ranks third on the team in points with 18 tallying five
goals and eight assists. Edwards, who is majoring in marketing, is a
five-time member of the Dean's List at Florida State, while earning
President's List honors following the fall 2008 semester for posting a 4.0
GPA. She is a three-time member of both the All-ACC Academic Team and ACC
Academic Honor Roll.
