PALM HARBOR — East Lake's dominating 3-0 victory over Palm Harbor University on Friday did more than give the Eagles their first Hurricane Watch tournament championship.

The one-sided affair sent a statement to the rest of Pinellas that the Eagles are, at least with two weeks left in the regular season, the county's best team hands-down.

"We know this was Palm Harbor, but more importantly it was a championship game and we wanted to win a championship," East Lake coach Sergei Stopek said.

East Lake (15-0-4) jumped on the host Hurricanes from the outset and didn't let up. Two minutes in, Josh Gonzalez headed a shot on goal that was saved by PHU goalie Max Gallin, but the rebound came right back to Gonzalez for an easy tap-in. more
