Dillingham Earns SSC Defensive POW Honors
Sunshine State Conferece Release
ORLANDO, Fla.
(October 5, 2009) - Rollins women's soccer
standout
Michelle Dillingham notched a pair of wins with a 0.50 GAA last week,
and earns the title of Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the
Week for the period ending October 4, it was announced by conference
officials Monday.
This marks Dillingham's first POW honor this season, and the third of
her career.
Kicking off the week against No. 16 Florida Tech, Dillingham made four
saves to preserve the No.8 Tars' 2-1 victory on the Panther's home turf.
The final decision marked only the second time this season that the
Panthers were limited to a single goal, and snapped a school-record
eight-match win streak for FIT.
The climax of her incredible abilities against the Panthers culminated
in a behind the back, split-second punch in the final minutes of play to
ensure the Tars would walk away with their fourth straight win, and second
conference victory in as many games.
Closing out the week with a 2-0 conference shutout over Eckerd,
Dillingham played off of the line to help hold the Tritons without a
single shot in the contest.
The Tars will be back in action on Saturday, October 10 when they host
Palm Beach Atlantic. Kickoff against the Sailfish is slated for 6:30
p.m. Fans can catch all of the action live on the Tars Sports Network at
