Dearing, Maze and Larrinaga Named To All-Tournament Team
Andrew Hopkins, UNF Athletics
JACKSONVILLE,
Fla.
– Seniors Kady Dearing and Lauren Maze, and freshman Michele Larrinaga, were
named to the Jacksonville University Invitational All-Tournament Team for
their performances this past weekend.
Maze and Dearing helped
the UNF defense halt
Georgia Southern on
offense last Friday (Sept. 4), holding them to just five shots to UNF’s 15
and to two corners. Their defensive play helped spark the offense for the
Ospreys’ dominant four-goal win against the Eagles.
Of the four goals scored
against the Eagles two were scored by Larrinaga. The first came in the 66th
minute as she dribbled her way to a one-on-one opportunity against GSU’s
goalkeeper that she buried.
Then in the 77th
minute she scored off a corner kick from sophomore Sadie McLean where she
was able to dispossess the defender, cracking the ball in for her second
goal of the match and the Ospreys’ fourth of the evening.
The Ospreys will be on the
road this week to take on Sun Belt opponents Florida Atlantic and Florida
International on Friday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. in
Fort Myers,
Fla. and Sunday, Sept. 13 at noon in
Miami,
Fla.
