Coach Schilte-Brown on 1010 Sports

TAMPA – University of South Florida women’s soccer coach Denise Schilte-Brown and men’s soccer coach George Kiefer will both be guests on this week’s edition of the USF Magazine Show on 1010 Sports AM on Wednesday Aug. 20. The show airs weekly, starting at 6 p.m. and runs for an hour.

With eight returners and 24 newcomers, Schilte-Brown will hope to make back-to-back trips to the BIG EAST tournament, as the Bulls made their first appearance in 2007.

The Bulls were impressive in their first exhibition match as they defeated 2007 NCAA qualifier, UCF, 1-0 on Aug. 16. In the match, freshman Chelsea Klotz made her presence known early as she pushed across the only goal of the match just minutes into the game. Junior Mallori Lofton-Malachi and freshman Gaby Garton combined for a shutout. Lofton-Malachi stopped five shots and Garton had three saves.

The women will be in action next against the University of North Florida Friday on Aug. 22 at 5 p.m. Due to the ongoing renovations to the USF Soccer Stadium, the game will be held at the University of Tampa’s Pepin Stadium.

The men’s soccer team returns 19 players from a team that made it all the way to the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2007. Seniors Yohance Marshall, Kevon Neaves and Jordan Seabrook were selected to the All-BIG EAST Preseason Team. Marshall was also selected as the BIG EAST Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.

The men take a trip to Maryland on Aug. 22 that will finalize the exhibition schedule. The regular season begins Aug. 30 when the Bulls host Bowling Green at 7:30 p.m.
