Celtics cruise into regional semifinals
from Ocala Star Banner
Once again, the Celtics imposed their will.
The Trinity Catholic girls soccer team rolled through the regional
quarterfinals Thursday night, just like they stormed through districts
last week, hanging a methodical 7-0 whipping on visiting Taylor.
The Celtics (21-3-2) got five goals from sophomore Ashley Coley and a
stellar defensive effort from a back line that played physical soccer from
the opening whistle.
"(The defense) did a wonderful job," seventh-year head coach Blendel
Elias said. "I always tell them to ‘take it game by game; don't take
anything lightly.'
"They're playing well. The passing, the communication . . . what else
can you ask?"
Taylor's main scoring threat, junior forward Ciarra Britt, came into
Ocala with 41 goals on the season, and let with the same number.
Harassed and intimidated by the likes of Asami Floyd, Christina Camargo
and Blaire Kelley, Britt retreated to the back line for the final minutes
of the match.
