Celtic girls in familiar place
from ocala.com
Last season, Trinity Catholic’s girls soccer team made it
further than any other Marion County girls program in history.
The Celtics (21-3-2) will try for a repeat performance when they host
Keystone Heights (13-5) tonight at 7 in the Region 3A-2 semifinals.
This will be the third meeting for Trinity Catholic and Keystone Heights
in the regional playoffs. A year ago, the Celtics knocked off the Indians
6-0 in Clay County at this same level, which helped them snap a three-game
skid in the regional semifinals.
The Indians have never advanced past the regional semifinals and are 0-2
at this level.
Trinity Catholic, meanwhile, has won three of its last four regional
playoff games and picked up a 7-0 shutout of Pierson Taylor last Thursday
for its second straight opening-round win over the Wildcats.
The shutout was the sixth all-time for the Celtics in the postseason and
they will try to improve on a 9-0 scoring edge in the playoffs against
Keystone Heights, a 2-1 winner over Umatilla in the opening round.
The winner faces either Winter Park Trinity Prep (15-5-1) or Orlando Lake
Highland Prep (16-3-3) in the regional finals on Friday at 7 p.m.
