A Coaches View on Ceci Colon
It is not often that I have the opportunity to coach a
quality player like Ceci Colon. Given the opportunity, I remember why I
love coaching so much. Ceci has played Varsity soccer for three years. In
this time I have seen her become an excellent player, gaining experience
through high school and club soccer. As a player, Ceci is athletic,
competitive and consistent; she has drive, speed, quickness, exceptional
footwork, and is both a playmaker and a finisher. As a person, Ceci is
respectful, loyal, dedicated and intelligent; she is an amazing leader and a
team player. She is one of the best players in Miami-Dade not only because
of her stats and abilities, but also due to her attitude and leadership. As
a junior this year, she is head captain and has earned the respect of her
teammates, including the upperclassmen. She thrives when given
responsibility and does not allow her grades to drop due to soccer.
In the eight years I have coached soccer at
Westminster, I believe Ceci Colon is the best player and teammate in girls
soccer history. Ceci has broken almost every record held at Westminster for
girls soccer. She is, without a doubt, D1 material. Her freshman year,
The Miami Herald named Ceci a 2nd team All-Dade player, and
her sophomore and junior year The Miami Herald named her 1st
team All-Dade player. Most if not all the coaches that Ceci has played
against have come to the same conclusion that she is an outstanding player
and is exciting to watch play this great game soccer.
