Quick Kicks
The 2009 USF women's soccer team was greeted
back to Tampa with a typical summer day for the first day of summer and the
newcomers not from Florida learned what heat is all about.
The Bulls trained for two hours in the morning from 9-11 then went from 3-5
this afternoon. Schilte-Brown said that today was used as an evaulation
session, to see and said that moving forward the next couple days will be
used to learn tactics.
The team reported to campus bright and early Monday morning. The day was
used for team meetings and getting to know each other.
Schilte-Brown announced that freshman set a number of strength and
conditioning marks. She said it was the first time a freshman has set
standards.
Schilte-Brown was very impressed with the teams conditioning and thinks that
will be a major component to the teams success this season.
Check out the rest of Coach Schilte-Brown thoughts from the first day

What Went Down this Off Season...
Improving the Attack
The Bulls entered the 2009 offseason with a renewed commintment to
improving their offensive attack and this spring they showed that they would
be able to do just that.
This spring Bulls were quite impressive this past spring posting three 1-0
victories in the three 45 minute exhibitions, in victories over St. Leo’s,
Jacksonville and Miami.
Paceheco Earns Her First Cap
Sophomore Gina Pacheco earned her first international cap for
Canadian National team in the July 20 match against the United States in
Rochecter, N.Y.
The Ottawa, Ontario native entered the game in the 81st minute, replacing
Kara Lang in hopes of bringing a spark to the Canadian offensive attack.
Pacheco played the final 11 minutes but did not record a shot.
Bulls on the National Scene
Five Bulls were either part of the National teams or particpated in
national team camps.
Senior Mallori Lofton-Malachi trained with the U.S. National team earlier
this year. Although she was not called up to the national team, she
impressed player's and coach with her knowledge of the game and freakish
athleticism.
Also making a buzz were a trio Canadians. Sophomore Gina Paceheco, redshirt
freshman Bahar Sansar and incoming freshman Taylor Patterson were named to
the Canadian women’s U-20 team. Sansar and Paceheo were then promoted to the
National team for a series of three friendly matches against the U.S.
Sophomore Rehan Murani was played for the Guinese National team which was
coached by USF assistant Chris Brown.
The Bulls Welcome Nine
This past February USF received national letters of intent from
nine talented incoming freshmen hailing from all across North America. This
class marks Schilte-Brown’s third recruiting class since being named head
coach in the winter of 2006. Schilte-Brown used her roots from up north to
land two heralded players from Canada. Although much smaller in size than
the class from a season ago, this is class filled with players with
outstanding pedigrees, on both the national and international levels.
