Bolles Runs Past Trinity Catholic
Tampa-Bolles will have an opportunity to defend it State
Championship as they shutout Trinity Catholic 4 to 0 in the class 3A Florida
Girls High School State Semi-final.
The Bulldogs would pressure the Celtics defense early and
often. "Everything we are about is trying to score early and put a team on
their heels." Bolles coach Tracy said.
It would be Senior Brooke Thigpen who would score first off
an assist from Junior Caroline Triglia just 6 and a half minutes in to the
contest. Thigpen kept up the pressure with several more dangerous
opportunities in the half but it would be Rachel Sorrells who would get the
second score off an assist from Eilis Ryan 12 minutes before the half.
In the second half Triglia struck a corner kick which bend
into the net for an unassisted goal just 9 minutes in. "Once I kicked it I
was like oh my god it is going to go in" said Caroline.
"We have been working on a lot of corners in practice." said
Bulldogs coach Matthew Tracy. "That is not the corner that we have been
working on, but I told her that she can do that every time."
Thigpen would get her second goal of the day with 27:25
remaining off a rebound for the final goal in the match.
The final scores of Bolles last four games have been pretty
lopsided . "Every team we have played I think was better than the result on
the scoreboard." Tracy said after the game. " I just think that we are
playing great right now."
This was Trinity Catholics first time to reach the State
Final-Four and the first team from Marion County to make the final-four. "I
think that it is kind of a break through for us." said Celtics Junior
Midfielder Katy Phillips." We are just going to take it one step further
next year. Hopefully we will be in the championship next year."
