Berg Named Atlantic Sun Offensive Player of the Week

DeLand, Fla. - The Atlantic Sun Conference office announced that Stetson's Heather Berg has been named the league's Offensive Player of the Week.
The forward from Fort Myers, Florida celebrated Sunday's Senior Day with an amazing performance in her final regular season home game. Berg scored four goals and added two assists to lead the Hatters to a 7-0 win over ETSU.

When it was all said and done she had set a pair of all-time records at Stetson. Berg's total of 10 points was the most ever by a Hatter in a single game. She shattered the old mark of seven set by Jennifer Colley vs. Troy State on October 12, 2003.

Berg's four goals was one better than four Stetson players who have tallied hat tricks in the past including her teammate and Stetson's all-time leading scorer Tessa Gavilsky who accomplished the feat earlier this season against Embry-Riddle (8/27/09). Alicia Briggs (9/21/03), Melissa Streeter (10/8/94), and Colley who did it twice, were the other former record holders.

Her offensive outburst leapfrogged Berg into second place on the Hatters and third place in the A-Sun in scoring with 22 points on the season. She is also third in the league in goals scored with nine.

Stetson's win on Sunday secured the #3 seed in next week's Atlantic Sun Conference tournament. Stetson will host a first round game on Saturday against Campbell at a time yet to be determined. The Hatters defeated the Fighting Camels 2-0 earlier this season in DeLand.
