Beard and Macko Tabbed Daktronics All-South Second Team

Lions’ Duo Join SSC Filled Second Team
MEMPHIS,
Tenn. – The accolades continue to be handed out to the women’s
soccer pair of
Hannah Beard and
Sara Macko as
they were tagged Daktronics All-South Region Second Team members, it was
announced Wednesday.
Beard, who has already been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District
First Team, as well as the All-Sunshine State Conference first team,
finished out a solid season as the Lions top scorer.
The Liverpool, England native tallied a team-high 12 goals and chipped in
four assists to conclude the year with 28 points. She totaled one
game-winning goal and started in 14 of 16 contests. She ranked in the top
six of the conference in shots (53), points (28), goals (12), and
points-per-game (1.75). The senior topped-off an amazing career by passing
Casie Poysick as the all-time point’s leader at Saint Leo with an assist
against Rollins in the SSC Tournament. The pass gave Beard 123 total points
for her career.
Macko has also enjoyed a tremendous season as a senior. The Valrico, Fla.
native closed the 2009 campaign tied with
Pia Soesemann
as the Lions second leading scorer with eight goals, four assists, and 20
points. She also totaled the second-most minutes played on the team
accumulating 1,356 and started in 15 of 16 contests.
She led the team with three game-winning goals and concluded action
ranked in the top-10 of the SSC in multiple offensive categories.
Macko was recently named All-Sunshine State Conference First Team, as
well.
In total, 14 players representing five SSC institutions were selected to
the first and second teams.
Taking home South Region Player of the year accolades was West Florida’s
Shakira Duncan.
