Argos Claim Nation's Top Spot for Second Consecutive Week
KANSAS
CITY, Ks. — For the second straight week the University of West
Florida women’s soccer team will earn the nation’s No. 1 ranking as
announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The Lady
Argos improved to a perfect 12-0 on the season with a 6-0 shutout over
conference rival Christian Brothers last weekend.
In the match against the Bucs,
Shakira Duncan
(Kingston, Jamaica/Darton College) led the Lady Argos high powered offense,
scoring the first three goals of the match en route to a 6-0 victory. The
offense for the Argos this season has been nothing short of outstanding. On
the season they have outscored their opponents 62-4, averaging 5.16 goals
per game which leads the nation.
This week the Argos will hit the road once again for matches at
Alabama-Huntsville on Friday and Delta State on Sunday. The Argos will enter
the weekend a combined 19-0 against the Chargers and Statesmen and are
riding a 38 game regular season conference winning streak.
